Want to create a clean and safe energy future for Florida? Want to help stop new nuclear power in Florida?
Are you already actively opposing nuclear power or NEW nuclear power in Florida? Are you interested in getting involved? Are you frustrated by how much "air time" the proponents of nuclear power are getting instead of those promoting truly safe, clean and affordable energy choices? Join kindred spirits for an opportunity to put heads together and consider, for instance, a statewide campaign idea hatched this fall – the "Florida Safe and Sustainable Energy Campaign" -- and other ways that folks who share a commitment to a sustainable energy future can work together.
"We" are a group of people and organizations, including folks who live near the two new proposed reactor sites -- one in Levy County on the Nature Coast north of Tampa Bay, the other south of Miami at the existing Turkey Point nuclear plant -- and students and new activists as well as veterans from diverse areas of Florida. Yat Kitischee Native Center, Save It Now Glades, HOPE, Miami-Dade Green Party, Nuclear Information and Resource Service, Public Citizen, the Institute for Energy and Environmental Research, Southern Alliance for Clean Energy, and Southern Energy Network are also contributing to this meeting.
The purpose of this meeting: Networking and "cross-pollination" of activists working locally, upstate, in South Florida, in the middle, regionally and nationally to stop the relapse of nuclear power in the USA. We will find ways to support each other and develop common ground with the FOCUS ON FLORIDA!
We will convene Saturday, November 22 at 9:30 am (coffee, tea and snacks available starting at 9 am) -- Location and draft agenda will be sent to those who register: THERE IS NO FEE for this meeting -- however we do ask that you pre-register so we know who is coming. This meeting is for people who share the views expressed above (or close), not those who promote new nuclear power. To register, go to:
