Run, Walk or Bike 30 Miles in 30 Days To Provide Safe Drinking Water to 1,200 Kids In Tanzania

By sabrina walasek - Posted on 04 October 2008

Imagine if each day you had to leave class and walk long distances to collect a bucket full of suspect water from a hand-dug water pit (used by an entire community and wild animals)! This is the reality for 1,200 kids at three schools in Tanzania.

During October, youth across the country are forming teams, joining teams or going solo to help support Blue Planet Run's 30-Mile Challenge to raise money to build three wells.

Register now at http://www.blueplanetrun.org/30-mile

It's easy. You still have 4 weeks to complete 30 miles. Walk 1.5 miles a day. Go on two 15-mile bike rides. You can register and complete your miles however you'd like!

For just $1/mile, you can provide one person with a lifetime of safe drinking water! Want to make a connection with the students - we can help with that too!

The students from one school have already sent us a message that is being read all over the country to start the 30-mile events. We are collecting letters, photos, videos of athletes to create an electronic scrapbook to send to the Tanzanian schools.

If we can provide three wells, these kids will receive health, education and hope!

Water is life. Pass it on.
